Recent haul...

Here are some books I have acquired of late....

Interesting book, has made me desperate to go on a holiday somewhere exotic and exciting...

Interesting well written and witty guide to foods, eating and cooking techniques. A light read but still informative.

What can I say??? I am going to attempt some yeast baking after reading this. Fantastic recipes!

As above. Such an amazing book!

Not really about food per se but a book that every woman should read. It isn't a feminist tome entirely, but the moral is that sometimes you have to put yourself first and find your own happiness before you can be any good to anyone else.

Bought the book. Watched the movie. Read the book. Loved them both!

Here is the book that started it all, really really interesting though I haven't cooked from it yet.
The first two books I picked up at my local bookstore, Mastering the Art of French Cooking was from a bookstore in Melbourne and the rest was from www.fishpond.com.au the best cheapest online bookstore I have found. They have every book imaginable, are really cheap and the service is excellent.

Long time no blog...

Oh dear, it has been over a month since my last blog...I have been busy, travelling, eating and cooking and reading ...Since we last met I have had a birthday, visited Cairns for Mr Undomestic Goddess sister's wedding and Melbourne to visit a friend. I have also welcomed a new niece and friends of ours have had a baby as well... (welome Abigail and Grace!) So in a month and a half I have found myself in 3 states, 1 territory and there have been some very momentous occaisions involving our loved ones! And I have aquired a whole stash of new cooking and food related books and discovered brining... These will each have a whole post! Anyway, here is some gratuitous food porn from my kitchen...

Sage advice...

I bought some sage on the weekend and wanted to use it in two dishes...

Veal Saltimbocca, I served this with the requisite sauce (not shown) and served with extra prosciutto crispy and some extra fresh sage leaves on the top. With soft polenta.

Roast chicken with sage and onion stuffing, broccolini and asparagus and jerusalem artichokes. I roasted some garlic and made a roast garlic gravy and added the rest to my roast capsicum puree.

I bought a couple of kilos of great looking capsicums on special and roasted them, threw them into the food processor and added salt and pepper and roast garlic. So now I have a versatile base for dips, sauces, soups etc. I froze most it.

Scrambled eggs, so bright!! Mrs S' chooks are stil laying great eggs.

With some sauteed mushrooms it made a great sunday morning breakfast. The mushrooms were sauteed with olive oil, chicken stock, garlic and a little white wine...yes for breakfast!! It's my kitchen!!

Chicken, mushrooms, and rice. Yummy comfort food.

Brined Pork cutlet (so juicy), creamy mustard and lemon sauce, asparagus, jerusalem artichokes.

Reef'n'beef, crispy skinned potato, asparagus.

Middle eastern-ish lamb steaks, couscous and a kind of ratatouille with garam marsala.
Umm Morocco-touille?

Chicken and vegie stirfry

Pan fried veal steaks with sugar snap peas

Lemon and lemon myrtle seasoned salmon with sugar snap peas.

Gluten free mac'n'cheese. Made with san remo gluten free pasta which has a great tasted and texture. Mustard (seeded) was added to the sauce. Yum!

Veal and vegetable pie. Lid slightly off so you can see the yumminess inside!
Well I will be back soon to wax lyrical about brining, pears, my food mill and my new books!
Good Night!
